How Complex Trauma Affects a Child's Developing Brain
Every child needs to feel safe in order to grow, learn, and thrive. When children experience consistent love and security, their brains develop the skills needed for emotional regulation, problem-solving, healthy relationships, and resilience.
When a child is exposed to ongoing fear or danger, however, the brain adapts for survival instead of healthy development. This is known as complex trauma or complex ptsd.
